2013 Oscars – Christoph Waltz Wins Best Supporting Actor [VIDEO]
Waltz's first Oscar win was also for a Quentin Tarantino film for his role in 'Inglourious Basterds.'
Waltz was a consummate professional when accepting his award, sending his respect to his fellow nominees Alan Arkin ('Argo'), Robert De Niro ('Silver Linings Playbook'), Tommy Lee Jones ('Lincoln') and Philip Seymour Hoffman ('The Master') and actually sounding like he meant it.
Mostly though, he wanted to thank Tarantino (Waltz's first Oscar win was in another of the director's movies, 'Inglourious Basterds'), telling the director he "participated in the heroes journey… You scaled the mountain because you're not afraid of it. You slayed the dragon because you're not afraid of it, and you crossed through fire because it's worth it."
Nicely said, sir.
