You’re probably too young to know it, but Isadora Duncan was a very popular American dancer who toured Europe in the late 1800s and early 1900s.

She had a unique style with fluid movements -- but they weren't of much use to her on the day of her death.

In 1927, Duncan went out for a drive with an Italian “companion” who'd given her a beautiful scarf. As they were driving, the scarf that she'd so chicly draped around her throat got caught in the spokes of the back wheels of the car, and the rear axle pulled it so tightly it broke her neck.
