10 Most Bizarre Red Carpet Dates Ever

The cutest dates on our list are comedian Zach Galifianakis and his 87-year-old lady friend Mimi who he saved from a life of homelessness. Friends from when he used to go to his local laundromat, Galifianakis bought Mimi an apartment when he found at she was homeless and brings her to all his big premieres, most recently for the 'Hangover II' and 'III.' Also in on the good deed is Renee Zellweger, who furnished Mimi's apartment and keeps her well stocked up on food. Adorable.

Justin Bieber decided to bring his pet snake Johnson to the 2011 MTV VMAs, only to later auction off his beloved baby boa constrictor to benefit Pencils of Promise, which builds schools in needy countries. Johnson raised $1,000 but the memories of being at an award show will last a lifetime. Or never because that snake was probably super confused, especially when Bieber kept teasing then girlfriend Selena Gomez about his real date.

Back at the height of his career, the King of Pop, Michael Jackson used to bring his chimpanzee companion Bubbles to award shows with him, because why wouldn't you? Bubbles was bought by Michael from a Texas research facility and was treated like one of the family, being taken to various events and making many realize that Michael was a tad eccentric. Bubbles eventually grew larger and more aggressive and was sent to the Center for the Great Apes in Florida where he currently lives.

Some strange things go on at the MTV Video Music Awards, and one of those events was when rapper Sean Kingston brought a giant mascot replica of himself to walk alongside him on the red carpet. And no, we have no idea why. Maybe it's because they're not dressed the same but we're having a difficult time seeing the resemblance ... although to be fair, they both have very round heads.

Johnny Depp was making appearances and doing interviews for his 'Lone Ranger' film in which he plays Native American character Tonto when he decided to take the red carpet one step further and bring a white horse as his date. Sounds like someone had difficulty getting out of character. We wonder if new girlfriend Amber Heard was upset that he took the horse (who wasn't even the one from the film) with him rather than her. We know we'd be miffed.

The Grammys aren't the classiest award shows around, but it certainly isn't one where you bring a weirdo date like a fake pope with you on your arm. Which is exactly what Nicki Minaj did for seemingly no reason in 2012 causing many to accuse her of trying to be Lady Gaga. In a prank to promote his film 'The Dictator,' Sacha Baron Cohen arrived at the 2012 Oscars in character as Admiral General Haffaz Aladeen the ruler of Wadiya. As part of the gag, SBC brought along some fake ashes which he claimed to belong to Kim Jong Il before "accidentally" spilling them all over E! correspondent Ryan Seacrest. Which is sad, because Cohen claimed his buddy wanted to be sprinkled on Halle Berry's breasts. It was definitely one of the more memorable red carpet moments.

In a "WTF is even happening?" moment at the 2009 Teen Choice Awards, Bristol Palin (daughter of Sarah Palin) had her baby daddy Levi Johnston show up on the red carpet with comedian Kathy Griffin. Griffin jokingly referred to Johnston as her boyfriend whenever he was brought up and was even pretend upset when Levi got re-engaged to Bristol a year later in 2010. 'Perks of Being a Wallflower' fan favorite Ezra Miller arrived at the MTV Movie Awards with a more latex and hot-air filled date than most, although this one had an excuse because it was a balloon. Across the front of the fishing tackle/Pokeball colored balloon were six hearts flanking the phrase, "Nothing loves you." The commentary may have something to do with his character in the book, Patrick, not having a last name, causing Ezra to name him Patrick Nothing within the film. Or he could just be crazy.

Once upon a time in a galaxy far, far away Angelina Jolie would bring her brother James Haven to red carpets and make out with him (with tongue) in front of everyone while telling anyone who would listen that she was "in love" with him.
