Halle Berry Style Breakdown – What’s Right, What’s Wrong, and How to Fix It
Halle Berry is pregnant again, and the fact that she's already dressing her new baby bump in appropriate fashion has inspired us to dissect her recent style.
Berry favors basic black in both formal and casual situations, but she always wears the shade in interesting cuts that work with her tight body.
This clingy Elie Saab has a square neckline that takes a simple LBD and increases the sexiness. Berry's cleavage has never looked so good.
Her casual, out-and-about style in the usually hot climate of Los Angeles is effortlessly chic and usually consists of the proper balance of skinny jeans and flowy tops. Her gray pants are slim, but her top and her bag are voluminous. It's playful and pulled together.
Berry also loves leather and wears it often.
What's Right:
Her asymmetrical Helmut Lang leather skirt is the centerpiece of this outfit worn to the premiere of 'The Call.' Those strappy Guiseppe Zanotti stilettos also grab our attention.
When Berry does break with black, like she did in this hot pink ruched number, she makes a huge statement. The loud color is just the right contrast to her flaw-free mocha skin.
The same can be said for this sparkly silver Dolce & Gabbana mini worn to a 'Cloud Atlas' premiere. We are besotted by this strapless dress. At 46, Berry puts Hollywood starlets half her age to shame. For serious.
Her preggers style when she was expecting daughter Nahla in 2007 and 2008 was top notch. She still wore her beloved black, but her clothes fit, were stylish and appropriate. (Hi, Kim Kardashian.)
She also knows how to fill out a column shape. This Vivienne Westwood gown looks like it was designed on a dress form made directly from Berry's body.
Her red carpet style also sometimes includes color and florals, like this Atelier Versace frock. The head-turning slit is also a Berry signature.
What's Wrong:
Balmain is one of the hottest celeb-favored designers in recent years, but this well-tailored black and gold brocade pantsuit is just too Vegas-y for the youthful Berry.
While Berry's second pregnancy style so far has been near-perfect, this dress, worn to the Brazilian premiere of 'The Call,' hugs the bun in the oven but the spider-like panel is costume-y. We just don't love it.
Her 2013 Oscar gown by Versace was glittery, but the styling was so middle-aged mom. It was not her best stiletto forward by any means.
We don't love the fabric of this red Monique Llullihier, but it does show a Berry signature: the slit, which reveals quite a bit of thigh.
How to Fix It:
Berry's understanding of her rad body is why her style is so enviable. She takes the (potential) boring out of LBDs with her silhouettes.
This Helmut Lang -- a favorite designer for Berry -- cold shoulder black knit dress plays peek-a-boo with the unique neckline. Berry smartly paired the frock with strappies.
This draped, one-shouldered Helmet Lang has a full proportion, but Berry works it with that pose and keeps it from devolving into a snoozer.
If she follows a style similar to the one she adopted during her first pregnancy, like this flowing, bright blue satin dress, we'll look forward to her many stylish baby bump ensembs to come.
It's all about shape with Berry. This gray dress has flattering ruching and if she keeps donning outfits like this, we'll remain devotees of her style.
Berry's LBDs inspire fans and fashionistas the world over. If she keeps the cuts unique, like the bodice and high slit found on this Michael Kors, she'll maintain a legion of copycats who want to dress like her.
