9 Gay Anthems Better Than ‘Y.M.C.A’ — You Can Have It (OPINION)
OK, Sis! Village People's Victor Willis woke up on Dec. 2 (Monday), and chose violence — He came for the gays and our dance bops!
Willis, who co-wrote the 1978 iconic tune "Y.M.C.A.," shared on Facebook that he has changed his mind about allowing President-elect Donald Trump to use the song in public forums.
He explained that since Trump started dancing to the tune at his rallies, he has cashed a few more royalty checks, and even went as far as to threaten any news outlet with a lawsuit that refers to the song as a "gay anthem."
Willis admitted that since the song skyrocketed to the top of a Billboard chart, it has grossed “several million dollars" in royalties.

Since its release, LGBTQ+ communities worldwide have adopted "Y.M.C.A" as an unofficial anthem.
However, although Willis doesn't "mind that gays think of the song as their anthem," he wants everyone to know it is NOT a gay anthem, and branding it as such is only meant to embarrass Trump by association.
"Therefore, since I wrote the lyrics and ought to know what the lyrics I wrote is really about, come January 2025, my wife will start suing each and every news organization that falsely refers to "Y.M.C.A.", either in their headlines or alluded to in the base of the story, that "Y.M.C.A." is somehow a gay anthem because such notion is based solely on the song’s lyrics alluding to elicit activity for which it does not," he added.
Well, Mr. Willis, the gays can twirl to a Michael Bublé song while texting their ex in the club.
So, we will happily allow you to have "Y.M.C.A", and although I could just name a bunch of Cher songs — don't worry, she's there — here are 9 other bops that are truly a "gay anthem."
"Born This Way" - Lady Gaga
"Firework" - Katy Perry
"Vogue" - Madonna
"Good Luck, Babe!" - Chappell Roan
"Dancing on My Own" - Robyn
"Believe" - Cher
"It's Raining Men" - The Weather Girls
"Raise Your Glass" - P!nk
"Cut to the Feeling" - Carly Rae Jepsen
