Oscar Pistorius Sobs in Court After Being Charged With Premeditated Murder
Oscar Pistorius, the Olympian charged with the murder of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp - who was fatally shot on Valentine's Day - cried in court today (Feb. 15) after prosecutors said he would be charged with premeditated murder.
A bail hearing has been postponed by the prosecution and the defense and the case was adjourned until Feb. 19. Pistorius will remain in police custody until then.
His lawyer didn't deny Pistorius shot his girlfriend but did say, "The alleged murder is disputed in the strongest terms." Instead, they might go the self-defense route and allege that Pistorius thought Reeva was an intruder.
Twitter might actually help them with this -- back in November, Oscar tweeted that he'd almost attacked a household appliance because he thought someone had broken into his crib:
Can't wait to see how they present that in court. “Your honor, we would like to submit defense exhibit A: the internet!”
