Holly Madison Is Thinking About Eating Her Plancenta. That’s All We Got.
Pregnant Holly Madison has big plans for her placenta after giving birth. Specifically, she plans to eat it. As you do.
It may seem revolting, but whether or not to actually eat one's placenta has been the subject of a heated debate between moms and medical science for a while now. Doctors say there's no benefit, but some women disagree.
For her part, Madison is weighing her options and has even asked her Twitter followers for advice.
She's also broached the subject on her personal blog, saying, “This might sound gross, but I’m totally planning on having my placenta turned into pills I can take after giving birth. I heard it helps women recover faster and I want to recover as quickly as I can! Have any other moms out there done this?”
Madison, who's due on March 5, wouldn't be the first celebrity to partake. Last year, 'Mad Men' star January Jones made headlines when she admitted to doing the same thing after the 2011 birth of her son Xander.
“It’s something I was very hesitant about, but we’re the only mammals who don’t ingest our own placentas. I suggest it to all moms!” she said, before consuming her by-product with some fava beans and a nice Chianti.
