Best + Worst Dressed of the Week: Emma Watson, Amanda Seyfried + More
It was a week fashion triumphs: Angelina Jolie returned to the red carpet and looked stunning not once but twice, and Emma Watson was a champ in Chanel.
Meanwhile, Amanda Seyfried mimicked a graduate and Carrie Underwood was questionable in a mint shortsuit.
And then there were the CFDAs and the Glamour Women of the Year Awards across the pond -- so there were lots of good and bad ensembs to choose from. Here are our picks for the best and the rest of the week.
The Best:
Angelina Jolie
The actress and supermom returned to the red carpet for overseas premieres of partner Brad Pitt's movie 'World War Z.' In London, her black Saint Laurent gown was simple and sexy, and simply sexy. She's incredibly slim, and the dress moved fluidly on her.
Jolie followed up her LBD -- the "L" in that case being long, as opposed to little -- with a totally opposite look in Berlin, donning a strapless white dress by Ralph Russo with an embellished and geometric peplum waist.
Nicole Richie
The body-skimming gold lame Marc Jacobs gown that Nicole Richie wore to the CFDAs was essentially a kicked-up, red carpet-worthy maxi dress, which is perfect for summer.
Emma Watson
The English rose stunned in a black Chanel mini. It was tweed and tailored but still full of sex appeal, thanks to the shape of the hem. Darling, isn't it?
Rita Ora
At the Glamour Women of the Year Awards in the UK, the singer was resplendent in a flirty, fluffy, slate-hued Marchesa gown that was extra femme and full of confectionery ruffles. Her matching smoky gray eye makeup completed the look.
Rachel Bilson
The pretty brunette actress wore a summery frilly white Chanel frock. Even though she's petite, the layers didn't swallow her. Delicate. Soft. Gorgeous.
Mary-Kate Olsen
Mary-Kate Olsen's vintage black Miyake, worn to the CFDAs, was like an origami spiral staircase. We know, that sounds ridic, but it was totally "wowza" on the tiny designer and onetime actress.
The Worst:
Amanda Seyfried
The normally stylish actress donned a drapey and shapeless red Givenchy gown that mirrored a graduation smock. Well, it is the season ... but that's no excuse.
Jessie J
The British singer wore an electric blue Gucci pantsuit to the Glamour Women of the Year Awards that was all volume. It was matronly. She's too young and sexy to rock this nonsense, Gucci or not.
Carrie Underwood
The country superstar is a usual red carpet sure bet but she missed the mark in this mint green mess. It was sorta Vegas-y and summer shorts are fine, but why not go with leather and a loose, embellished jersey top?
