2013 Met Gala – Best Dressed
The 2013 Met Gala took place last night (May 6), with the A-list and elite dressed in lots of couture attire. The theme of the event was 'Punk: Chaos to Couture,' and while some stars interpreted the theme, others ignored it and went for straight-up chic with no references to the culture, scene or music.
Oddly enough, in a sea of brightly colored gowns, it was the black ones that mostly stood out. Here are our picks for Best Dressed.
Jessica Alba:
The mom-of-two wore a Tory Burch gown in a black and gray print with sexy cutouts that let us see a touch of her "other" girls. The cleavage, the updo and the nude lip all worked in concert to make the actress one of the night's standouts.
Rooney Mara:
Rooney Mara, who was involved in co-chairing one of the events, was darling in a white Givenchy gown with scalloping. She prevented it from being too precious, thanks to her blood-stained lips and slicked back hair.
Taylor Swift:
The unlucky-in-love singer showed some uncharacteristic edge in a black J. Mendel gown with a militaristic shape, which she paired with smoky eye makeup and black lacquered nails.
Anne Hathaway:
The punk theme was interpreted too literally by many actresses and pop divas -- but Anne Hathaway, in her vintage Valentino, straddled the line flawlessly. She was inspired by Blondie's Debbie Harry and with the shock of blonde hair and her gown's peek-a-boo construction, she nailed the concept. You can almost see her boobies, which made it even sexier.
Blake Lively:
Not much was said about the actress' Gucci Premiere georgette dress with feather detail and an elaborate train, but the onetime 'Gossip Girl' star was nothing short of stunning.
