Before you come unhinged, Twihards, let it be known that we think the erstwhile Bella Swan, actress Kristen Stewart, is gorgeous. Even when she's pouting, frowning or standing uncomfortably on the red carpet, she makes it work. She's kind of turned it into her "thing," and while it hasn't quite reached the art form of, say, Victoria Beckham, give her time. She'll get there.

Unfortunately, Kristen often has the posture of a recovering back surgery patient, which often leads to the clothes wearing her instead of the other way around.

In 2010 and 2011, she was at her best -- but since then, she's had some real bombs, especially as she was promoting the final 'Twilight' flick. Clearly she isn't afraid of couture labels or of baffling us by going out in things that aren't even fit for pajama-wear.

This Roland Muret mini elevates the notion of an LBD. It's high fashion and it shows off K. Stew's legs. No wonder the real-life Edward Cullen, Robert Pattinson, is so taken with her. The ginger hair was an added bonus, too. Oh, and the art of the pout totally works for her here. Style perfection = unlocked.

But then we were subjected to this monstrosity at the 12-12-12 benefit concert. We applaud her flying in from L.A. to NYC to be a part of the charity concert for Hurricane Sandy victims, but she looks a mess. Nothing -- not the pout, not the star power, not her pose -- could save this top-to-toe fugliness.

We forgave her once we remembered this lemony, college highlighter yellow Dior frock that's as fun and summery as it gets. No amount of K. Stew scowling could take this down a peg, thanks to the girlish hem and those ankle-strap shoes.

What's Right:

Balmain is the new McQueen -- one of hottest design houses out there. Stewart rocked the line's strapless, green patterned/overlay dress and was flawless. Wearing her mane off her shoulders really lets this column dress and her figure shine. This is no ordinary home run ... it's a bottom-of-the-ninth, final game of the World Series grand slam.

Given K. Stew's "tough" image, this slinky leather dress by ALC hugs her curves and she looks poured into it. With the strappy, dominatrix heels and smoky eye makeup, she smolders and hits all her personal high notes. Everything coordinates perfectly.

Stewart is also known for her love of Converse sneakers -- they're a classic and emphasize comfort. But she can be effortlessly fabulous in casual wear like this leather jacket, skinny jeans and Docs, too. She wears this well, even if style cops might chide her for it being "sloppy." We think it's "real girl."

At the premiere of 'Cosmopolis,' she showed up and supported her boyfriend in a red hot Reem Acra dress. It dips low in the front and has a few strategically placed cutouts that show some skin. Paired with crimson lips, she's working a modern, edgy take on Old Hollywood glam.

Strapless, bone-hued Chanel with intricate detailing on the breastplate? This is, easily, one of her best choices. We know she was growing out the Joan Jett hair from 'The Runaways' and that's supposed to be messy, but she'd still have benefited from a structured updo. Other than that? This dress is something we'd like to jack from her closet.

K. Stew was regal in a purple J. Mendel gown with a major slit at one of her 'Twilight' premieres. The lace overlay was edgy and very "her," and that split was a dangerous, daring fashion risk that paid off.

This two-piece Balenciaga outfit, with black voluminous slacks and a bra-like white top, looks great from the front.

What's Wrong:

But that same outfit above that looks so great coming? Looks like bulletproof post-surgery padding from the back. Tragic, really.

This sheer minty floral Erdem dress is better suited for the runway -- and with a fashion-forward dresser who doesn't have posture or confidence issues. Sorry, K. Stew.

The black lace Zuhair Murad jumpsuit she wore to a 'Twilight' premiere in late 2012 looked like it belonged at a Studio 54-themed party. It's retro, but not as fun as we think it's supposed to be.

Stewart falters with one-pieces. This Jason Wu onesie is sheer and not sexy, appealing, or stylish, despite the designer being blazing hot (Michelle Obama wore his gowns to the Presidential Inauguration Balls in '09 and again earlier this year).

Here's another case where she ages herself with a suit. The hem is short and girlish, but overall, the styling is just too mature. The pointy shoes do it for us, though.

This peek-a-boo Marchesa gown, which she wore to a 'Snow White and the Huntsman' event, didn't do anything for Stewart. She was also seen wearing sneakers underneath it beforehand, which permanently scarred our memory of this mega fussy gown.

How to Fix It:

Our style prescription for K. Stew? She has a lot of the basics down, especially since enviable designers want to dress her. This colorblocked Balenciaga dress would work for her if she were more self-confident, so she needs to work on at least faking that on red carpets. Then a dress like this will suit her better.

If she shows lots of leg in embellished LBDs, she walks with a spring in her step and appears comfortable. The length of the hem and the sleeves, as well as the twirly shape, is darling without being precious.

Unique cuts and silhouettes, like this one-shouldered Elie Saab mini, also work for her. Those legs? Seriously, girl, show them any chance you get.

Another winner is below, thanks to J. Mendel. Black. Short. Shows legs. Unique cut. Hot designer. Those are the K. Stew ingredients for success. If she follows those like she does below, her already high-style profile will only ascend.
