‘Glee’ Cast and Crew Gather to Honor Cory Monteith [VIDEO, PHOTOS]
Not having nearly enough time to grieve the loss of their friend and co-star Cory Monteith, the 'Glee' cast and crew assembled on Thurday (July 25) to honor the actor, who died of an accidental overdose on July 13.
"Today, Ryan Murphy and Lea Michele gathered the cast, crew and producers of 'Glee,' along with colleagues from the network and studio, to share memories and music in an emotional celebration of the life of Cory Monteith," a producer for FOX announced in a statement.
"We thank the public for their continued outpouring of love and support as we grieve our friend and colleague during this difficult time."
Due to Monteith's death, the fifth season of the musical dramedy has been pushed back to September 26th. The first two episodes are a long-planned Beatles tribute, and then -- assuming the writers "can get it perfect" -- show creator Murphy says they'll honor Monteith and his character Finn in the third episode.
"We'll have to do it in a way where the cast members will not have to re-create feelings of grief that they’ve had," explained Murphy. "If we can do this responsibly and help young people through these feelings, that’s the best that we can hope for."
Grief counselors will also be on hand during the first few weeks of shooting to help the cast and crew deal with their emotions.
