
Drag Icon The Vivienne’s Family Issues Emotional Plea After Cause of Death Revealed
RuPaul's Drag Race alum The Vivienne's cause of death has been revealed.
The drag legend — born James Lee Williams — died "from the effects of ketamine use causing a cardiac arrest," their publicist Simon Jones told People.
Jones shared on social media The Vivienne's family felt it was important to share the circumstance of the late reality TV star's death.
"I hope by us releasing this information we can raise awareness about the dangers of ongoing ketamine usage and what it can do to your body," The Vivienne's family said in a statement shared by Jones via Instagram.

"Ketamine is an extremely dangerous drug that is becoming more and more prevalent in the UK. If we can help raise awareness of the dangers of this drug and help people who may be dealing with ketamine addiction then something positive will come from this complete tragedy," the statement continued.
The Vivienne's family is working with the addiction charity Adferiad to spread awareness. The Vivienne died in January at the age of 32.
"It is with immense sadness that we let you know our beloved James Lee Williams - The Vivienne, has passed this weekend," Jones wrote on Instagram at the time.
"James was an incredibly loved, warm-hearted and amazing person. Their family are heartbroken at the loss of their son, brother and uncle. They are so proud of the wonderful things James achieved in their life and career," he continued.

Although authorities believe there were "no suspicious circumstances" surrounding the drag star's death, a formal inquest will take place in June.
