2013 Golden Globes – Worst Dressed [PHOTOS]
There were some serious red carpet clunkers at the 2013 Golden Globes. The dresses that were bad were ... really bad. There was nothing middling or "ho hum" about this selection of dumpy dresses, failure frocks and groan-inducing gowns.
It's a shame, since all of the ladies on this list are beauties in their own right. But boy did they choose the wrong dresses for this event.
Jessica Chastain
The 'Zero Dark Thirty' actress didn't put her best foot forward on the carpet in this self-described "seafoam" green sack by Calvin Klein. The color was drab, the fit and the construction were poor, and it was too loose on top. Overall, she looked sloppy. It was sad that someone so buzzed-about was so unpolished and, put simply, not pulled together. There IS a spot of good news, though: We're looking forward to seeing her at the Oscars. We've got a good feeling she'll rebound.
Lucy Liu
The gorgeous Asian actress was channeling Scarlett O'Hara in this overdone, Carolina Herrera with a ballgown-type skirt. It was blue-grey and sprinkled with a floral, granny-chic print, and pretty fug. We liked her fishtail braid, which is decidedly ultra-modern, but other than that, this was a matronly mess.
Kate Hudson
The 'Glee' guest star rocked a clingy black frock with gold detailing and a choker collar, which created a keyhole bust. Despite that attempt at sexiness, the dress wasn't flattering, at all. Yes, it did play up Hudson's shapely body, but she looks like the mother of a Las Vegas showgirl. The styling was tacky and not befitting a red carpet event.
Sienna Miller
The actress who popularized "boho chic" has been out of sight for quite some time, having given birth to her first child a few months ago. Her return to the public eye left a bit to be desired, style-wise. She wore a mod, two-piece -- or is that trying to be peplum? -- pink and white dress by a British designer. Is that thing cut from an old Easter tablecloth?
Alyssa Milano
The pretty actress and her petite frame were completely and totally overwhelmed by the garish gold color and all the excess fabric of this sloppy frock by Ports 1961. It was belted, but the cinching at the waist didn't nip it or give her any sort of definition. Milano, also a recent mom, was swallowed alive by a big swath of cloth. No, no and no.
Julianne Moore
The redheaded stunner and one of the finest actresses of her generation was a miss with her custom Tom Ford frock. He usually epitomizes sexy with his creations, but this black dress with some white colorblocking felt like was too mature and it aged Moore. She resembled the mother of the bride at a casual, VFW Hall wedding.
Amanda Seyfried
Her Givenchy gown boasted a pretty fabric and a soft, whisper-light color -- but it was thrown together and the faux deconstruction didn't flatter the doe-eyed actress or her figure. The detailing on the bodice is obscured by her wavy hair, and the styling and the dress itself are poor.
Stacy Keibler
George Clooney's main squeeze is statuesque, but this black Armani didn't do her any favors with its sparkly, barber shop pole-like striping. It's better suited for a cruise, and is too casual in its styling. Keibler said it was fresh off the plane from Paris, and we can't imagine why. It's incredibly plain. As for Clooney, he's always a red carpet "Do."
Rachel Weisz
Being married to someone as hot as Daniel Craig doesn't give you license to turn up at the Golden Globes in a strange, semi-sheer polkadot nightmare by Louis Vuitton. Weisz could chop off the sheer fabric from around the knee-level and it would have been an improvement. This LBD is too casual, but it's also unpretty. It's a shame, because she's drop-dead gorgeous and it's hard to make her look matronly -- but this dress did the trick. The only saving grace? The sexy, chunky ankle strap heels. Those are a keeper.
Rosario Dawson
The powder blue hue of the actress' clingy dress popped against her mocha skin, but other than that, the peplum cut and the non-committal sleeves work against her. Like either wear sleeves or don't -- make a decision already. These are like unfinished cap sleeves that are out of place and give the dress an incomplete vibe. A big miss for a talented and pretty actress.
