William Holden was an Oscar-winning actor known for roles in films like ‘Bridge Over the River Kwai,’ ‘Sabrina’ and ‘The Wild Bunch,’ but as he aged, even his dashing good looks couldn’t ward off the forces of gravity.

Holden slipped on a throw rug in his home, hit his head on a bedside table and bled to death. He was found four days later.

The autopsy indicates he may have been alive for at least 30 minutes after the fall, but sadly may not have realized the severity of his injuries. Maybe that's because he was drunk at the time, at least according to the police report.
