Pop culture buffs know actor Brandon Lee died after a tragic accident with an on-set prop gun, and the same thing happened to Jon-Erik Hexum, the pretty-boy star of the '80s TV show 'Cover Up' -- but it was really his own ignorance that killed him.

Hexum was between takes and joking around by playing Russian roulette with a gun loaded with blanks -- in this case, wads of paper. Apparently he didn't know that even a ball of paper can be dangerous at high velocity, because when one fired from the gun, it hit his temple so hard that it shattered his skull and send bone fragments into his brain. He died six days later.
