Host LL Cool J closed out the 2013 Grammys with a trip down nostalgia lane with his new song 'Whaddup,' reminding us that LL isn't just an actor and a guy who overuses the word "hashtag" -- he's still a pretty badass rapper.

We have already pushed this performance into the part of our brain where his ditty about genetically mutated sharks reside.

Cool was joined onstage by Public Enemy's Chuck D, DJ Z-Trip, Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine fame on guitar and Blink-182 member Travis Barker on drums.

Despite some interference from CBS, who ran the credits and decided to talk about Delta and the Hilton while the performance was still happening (shakes proverbial fist at CBS), it was one of the more surprising performances of the night. And by surprising, we mean it was totally awesome.

Have LL Cool J and Chuck D taken some sort of immortality potion? And if so, where can we get some? Because damn, these dudes have hardly changed a bit.

The set ended with the group segueing into 'No Sleep Till Brooklyn' and giving a shout out in memory of their friend and deceased Beastie Boys member Adam Yauch, with Cool shouting out, "Beastie Boys! M.C.A. forever!" before finishing his song in fine form.

Not even the machinations of CBS and their in-and-out audio could ruin it.
