Kate Upton Style Breakdown: What’s Right, What’s Wrong, and How to Fix It
Kate Upton is her generation's crown princess, the blonde hottie who is the yardstick by which all other blonde hotties are measured. The 21-year-old model is a bombshell and a favorite of dudes, yet because she's so personable, women like her too.
She's got a terrific body and (obviously) photographs well. When it comes to her style, she favors strapless, form-fitting, knee-length silhouettes and closed-toe heels or peep-toe pumps.
What's refreshing about Upton is how she can be sexy and sweet at the same time. She doesn't cross the line into trashy as many of her peers have. She skips the strappy "F-me" stilettos in favor of more classic shoe shapes, which keep her PG and keep you guessing.
This simple maroon satin sheath was sexy without being slutty.
This girlish blue frock was fun and flirty, and indicative of her signature look: Tight. Short. Sexy.
What's Right:
Upton's body was extra banging in this strapless teal mini. Yes, she was nearly popping out of the top, but hey, she's voluptuous.
The two-time Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue cover model wore a draped winter white dress to one of the mag's events. It was simple and lovely -- one of the things we like most about her is how unfussy she is.
Here, the model was darling in a black and white retro polka dress in her favored knee-length.
What's Wrong:
While the bold color was fab, Upton's bright green Diane Von Furstenberg gown at the Met Ball was underwhelming. It was as though she was intentionally playing down her babeness.
Upton is a knockout, but this black and white number was a little boring since it doesn't show off her shape.
This casual look didn't feel young, thanks to the boxy blazer.
How to Fix It:
Upton favors form-fitting, knee-length dresses. She knows they work for her, so this style signature is something she should not alter.
She doesn't shy away from color either. Example: This cornflower blue Zac Posen number was a "wowza!" moment we loved.
When Upton does go with basic black, she makes a statement. Choosing edgier silhouettes -- like this clingy, one-shouldered number -- is another style move that works wonders for her.
Her messy, beach babe hair and smoldering eye makeup in this pic were simple. She doesn't try too hard to be hot -- she just is, and the results are stunning.
When going casual, she looks best in sexy black, with a pop of color.
