A Detroit man wasn’t shy about his final bucket list wish: “Shower the streets with money.”

And thanks to a helicopter and a flair for the dramatic, his dying wish came true — in the most spectacular (and chaotic) way possible.

On Friday, June 27, just hours after the beloved car wash owner’s funeral, a helicopter flew over Gratiot Avenue and dumped thousands of dollars in cash onto one of East Detroit’s busiest intersections. Cue the joyful mayhem.

There was a brief traffic jam, a light scramble, and six full lanes of cars paused as people hopped out to grab the floating bills.

But somehow, it wasn’t mayhem in the messy sense — just good old-fashioned Motor City magic.

“Everybody got a little bit,” Lisa Knife, an employee at nearby Airport Express Lube & Service, told Detroit News, adding that the late man, who passed from Alzheimer’s, simply wanted his final act to be one of generosity.

Knife noted that what unfolded was surreal, but sweet. "There was no fighting… it was really beautiful," she said.

So no, it wasn’t a stunt or a hoax. This helicopter-funded mic drop was real — and proof that sometimes, going out in style means lifting everyone up on your way out.
