10-Year-Old Boy Confesses to Murdering Former Louisiana Mayor and His Daughter: REPORT
A 10-year-old boy in Louisiana was arrested after reportedly confessing to murdering former Mayor Joe Cornelius, 82, and his daughter, Keisha Miles.
Joe, who served as interim Mayor of Minden in 2013, and his 31-year-old daughter were found dead, with multiple gunshot wounds, on Sep. 1 (Sunday), according to KTBS.
"We have the juvenile in custody," Police Chief Jared McIver told the Minden Press-Herald after the double homicide.
"We've got a confession. But in these cases when you're in, it's very delicate. When you're dealing with a child of this age, you know, in their stage, we're looking at … was there motive, what was the motive?" he said, adding, "It's one of those things that we've still got a lot of unanswered questions."

McIver described the pre-teen as "scared," but claimed he has a "mindset to commit a crime like this," without clarifying what he meant.
The identity of the child is unknown, and his relationship to the victims has not yet been released.
"Mr. Joe is always nice to the police department, you know, just always brought a laugh, joke and all. I mean, at his age, 82 years old, still getting around, doing things," McIver told KTBS, regarding the victim.
"And people love Mr. Joe. Never heard, I've never heard anybody say a negative thing about him. So and then, you know, this the female, being his daughter. This is a terrible situation," he added.
