Six Degrees of Separation: See Kim Kardashian’s Surprising Connection to Kelly Clarkson

Kim Kardashian and Brody Jenner became step-siblings in 1991, when Kardashian's mother Kris married Jenner's father, Bruce. Jenner has had his issues with his father and step-family over the years (as played out on this season of 'Keeping Up With the Kardashians'), and purposely chose not to learn of baby North West's name until it was revealed. 'There's too much responsibility -- don't tell me!' he joked to Ryan Seacrest.

Brody Jenner and Avril Lavigne dated for almost two years -- even getting tattoos of each other's names -- before things fizzled in January 2012. Despite the lasting ink, there is no bad blood between the two. Jenner and Lavigne are "still friends who talk," and he wishes nothing but the best for her in her marriage to Nickelback's Chad Kroeger, he recently told the Huffington Post.

Before becoming the pop-punk singer we know today, in the late '90s, Avril Lavigne was just a young girl with a dream when she won a radio contest to sing with fellow Canadian Shania Twain. In front of 20,000 people, Lavigne announced that she wanted to be a famous singer, and performed a duet of the country singer's tune 'What Made You Say That' with Twain herself.

And to round off the list: In December 2012, after 10 months of dating, Brandon Blackstock popped the question to girlfriend Kelly Clarkson. (In addition to managing his wife, Reba McEntire, Brandon's dad Narvel Blackstock is also one of Clarkson's managers. Clarkson and McEntire have also recorded together.) Clarkson and her fiancé, who has two children from a previous marriage, are planning to elope, the singer announced on Twitter last month.
