Ray Nicholson Steps Out of Dad Jack's Shadow in 'Borderline'

Nicholson is a last name etched in movie-goers brains, but most people think of Hollywood legend Jack Nicholson.

However, his son, Ray Nicholson, is stepping out of the Nepo Baby shadow and ready for his time in the spotlight.

The 33-year-old stars in the new horror film Borderline, hitting theaters on March 14th (Friday).

Borderline is set in 1990s Los Angeles, where pop star Sofia (Samara Weaving), despite having around-the-clock protection from friend and bodyguard Bell (Eric Dane), has her world turned upside down by a delusion stalker (Ray Nicholson) who believes they are in love.

Ray, currently starring in the thriller Novocaine, recently revealed that growing up he never had any interest in following in his famous dad's footsteps.

"To be honest with you, I don't know if this sounds strange or whatever, but I just wanted to be normal. I hated the feeling, and I really felt this more when I was in college, of being a zoo animal," he told People.

"I think things happen when they're supposed to happen," he added, noting he felt pressure about being compared to his dad.

Despite him thinking he looks like his dad, Ray told the outlet he most often gets told he resembles actors Leonardo DiCaprio and Sebastian Stan.

Ray is the son of Jack and actress Rebecca Broussard. The Shining star has five other kids: Jennifer Nicholson, Caleb James Goddard, Honey Hollman, Lorraine Nicholson, and Tessa Gourin.
