Portraits of desperation Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt acted like total jerks on the UK's version of 'Celebrity Big Brother.' While anyone who ever was gullible, bored or sad enough to sit through an episode of MTV's 'The Hills' back in the day would say that's par for the course for the pair, apparently they were faking it once again.

Following a season of smack-talking, manipulation and general douchebaggery, the pair came in second place on the reality series and left the building to a resounding chorus of boos from their castmates and audience members, The Daily Mail reports (along with video).

However, while those may well seem legitimately warranted (because they're still alive and in our faces), Pratt insists it was all just part of the plan.

“They brought us in to be Speidi and stir it all up,” a teary-eyed Pratt explained to his peeved castmates over dinner. “I feel like a cartoon character. My talent for some odd reason is being an a--hole.”

No, Spence. You just have no talent. Big difference.

Montag watched as Pratt continued, “At first I told 'Big Brother' you gave me the wrong cast. These aren't the people I was prepared to go to war with ... and it was so hard to ... dig deep to even say a negative thing to be the bad guy. It’s been very difficult for me to be awful but there’s got to be a bad guy," he lamented. "There’s got to be a baddie. I had to step up."

In other words, if the price is right, it's totally fine to sell out and be a jackass.

“People pay my bills," he whined. "I can’t come all the way from America and play the good guy when that’s not what they cast me for.”

After his elimination, he told the show's host, "We went in to try and be the most entertaining we could be. I didn't come here to meet any new friends ... we came here to be champion ... If we didn't get this reaction we didn't do our jobs properly."

Yeah, you didn't. But if it makes you that unhappy, you can always try getting an actual job. Or just selling your wife's parts to a recycling center.
