A lot of the credit for Finding Nemo’s success can be attributed to its fantastic voice cast. But, before Albert Brooks and Ellen DeGeneres were cast, Pixar had two other actors in mind. William H. Macy originally recorded the voice for Marlin before director Andrew Stanton listened to it and realized it wasn’t working. And Megan Mullally was cast after Pixar producers saw her on Will & Grace, not realizing that Mullally doesn’t really talk like that in real life. They hired her anyway, but the actress didn’t want to replicate that voice and was eventually let go.
