Senator Mitch McConnell Thought Ashley Judd Was Just a Big Old Bag of Crazy [AUDIO]
Ashley Judd backed out of her potential campaign for Senate in the state of Kentucky, but it's not like her opposition was worried.
New audio leaked of Mitch McConnell mocking Judd's mental health history with his staff, because, well, he's clearly a class act.
In a "Know Your Enemy" meeting with his staff -- which, in fairness, is common -- McConnell and Co. planned to use Judd's personal and family history of mental illness against her in his campaign.
One staffer is overheard saying, "She’s clearly, this sounds extreme, but she is emotionally unbalanced ... I mean it’s been documented ... she’s suffered some suicidal tendencies. She was hospitalized for 42 days when she had a mental breakdown in the 90s.”
McConnell and his staff then described vetting Judd as a game of "Whack-a-Mole," laughing, "When anybody sticks their head up, do them out.” The 'Bug' actress was also described as a “haystack of needles” and “such a wealth of material.”
The group then played various sound bites from Judd, including one about her religious beliefs, and made fun of her family (which she didn't get the luxury of choosing).
For her part, Judd has taken a road so high it'd give most folks a nosebleed, saying only that she wouldn't have put it past McConnell and his cronies ”to take a personal struggle such as depression, which many Americans cope with on a daily basis, and turn it into a laughing matter.”
For his part, McConnell hasn't apologized -- but he is having the FBI look into the audio leak. Way to keep it classy.
