When Taylor Swift walked the red carpet at the 2012 VMAs on Sept. 6, she did so in a white, ladies-who-lunch power suit. Even with its daring neckline, it was a well-tailored and stylish set -- if Taylor was 40 and entertaining corporate bosses over a Cobb salad and a glass of Chablis.

But since she's a 22-year-old pop star with a model's height and an unfairly-blessed gene pool, it hit all the wrong notes.

Swift dressed a couple decades too old for her age (and not for the first time) to walk the carpet at a decidedly youthful event. Even the strappy gold heels felt grandma'ish and overly-mature.

While her sleek, polished, stick-straight hair and heavy bangs were stylish, especially when paired with those "kiss me" crimson lips and the crisp clean white hue of her outfit, a power pantsuit is just too dowdy for a girl of Swift's age and occupation.

Seriously, this is a suit Swift's PR rep or her mother should be wearing. And for them, we'd recommend it, because it IS pretty.

Oh, T. Swizzle. You're so young and beautiful. Wear clothes that match.
