Back in 2010, actor Wesley Snipes was sentenced to three years in prison for tax evasion. Unlike some celebrities (yes, LiLo, we're looking at you), he's actually been serving his time -- and on April 2, he was released and moved straight into house arrest to finish out his sentence.

As TMZ learned from the Federal Bureau of Prisons, Snipes was released on Tuesday and transferred to the New York Community Corrections Office, which will oversee his house arrest.

We don't recommend he watches past 'Blade 1' while he's under lockdown.

His so-called "home confinement" will end on July 19, which will end his long-running stay in the clink since he was convicted in December of 2010 in Pennsylvania for not filing his tax returns.

Apparently he didn't think he should be required to pay taxes. For oh, about 10 years.

Don't end up on the wrong side of Uncle Sam like Wesley Snipes -- taxes are due on April 15!
