On 'Doogie Howser, M.D.,' it wasn't just a young Neil Patrick Harris that stole our hearts every week -- let's not forget about his friend Vinnie Delpino, played by Max Casella. What's Doogie Howser's BFF up to today?

Then:

Max Casella starred in the hit Disney musical 'Newsies' before landing the role on 'Doogie Howser, M.D.' Casella stayed on the show for its entire 4-year run, before going on to star alongside Johnny Depp in the 1994 Tim Burton film 'Ed Wood,' and lending his voice to the title role on the animated series 'Cro.'

Casella is all grown up now, and taking on much more serious roles -- you might have seen him on TV in Italian gangster roles like Benny Fazio in 'The Sopranos' or as Leo D'Alessio on 'Boardwalk Empire.' Last year he reunited with his 'Sopranos' co-star, the now sadly late James Gandolfini, in the thriller 'Killing Them Softly.'

These days, Casella has a whole host of prestigious projects on his plate, including the Coen brothers' 'Inside Llewyn Davis,' Woody Allen's 'Blue Jasmine,' and Spike Lee's upcoming remake of 'Oldboy.'
