Steven Tyler took to Canadian television to apologize to upcoming 'American Idol' judge Nicki Minaj for some comments he made that she took as racist even though no one in their right mind would.

Minaj went on a Twitter rampage earlier this week after Steven gave an interview in which he said the latest batch of 'Idol' judges are being too harsh, adding, “If it was Bob Dylan [performing], Nicki Minaj would have him sent to the cornfield.”

Somehow Nicki decided that was racist. Because crazy.

Still, Steven felt the need to explain himself. So when he was on the show eTalk, he clarified, “If Bob Dylan came on the show, he would've been thrown off ... I am the last thing on this planet as far as being a racist.”

Giant-lipped? Yes. Too old to be wearing snakeskin and feathers in his hair? Yes. Should learn how to properly button a shirt? Double yes. But racist? Based on these statements, no.

“I don't know where she got that [from] me saying I'm not sure how she would've judged Bob Dylan," he added. (Man. For a guy whose speech no one's understood since the 1960s, Dylan sure does cause a lot of trouble.)

Tyler then re-iterated the fact that he's not a racist on several more occasions just in case Minaj's gnat-sized attention span needed the reminders. "Maybe I spoke out of turn," he said. "But a racist I'm not, Nicki."

Hopefully she can remember all that. It's really more explanation than she was entitled to.
