Stephen Colbert’s Mother Lorna Dead at 92

Stephen Colbert and his mother Lorna
Comedy Central

Sad news for the Colbert Nation: Comedy Central political funnyman Stephen Colbert‘s mother Lorna Elizabeth Tuck Colbert has died. She was 92 years old.

Her obituary says that the Colbert matriarch was “an accomplished artist, a church leader, a businesswoman, a supporter of the arts and a woman whose profound faith was apparent in her daily life.”

Stephen’s mother first became ill back in February, when his show ‘The Colbert Report’ was temporarily suspended for the first time ever so he could be with her.

She is survived by Stephen and seven of his 10 siblings, including former Congressional candidate Elizabeth Colbert Busch, as well as her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Our condolences to the entire Colbert family for their loss.
