Oh mama mia, mama mia, mama mia, let him go.

Sacha Baron Cohen has dropped out of a long in-the-works Freddie Mercury biopic after failing to see eye to eye with the surviving members of Queen.

E! Online reports that Cohen, 41, wanted to portray an "edgier side" of the legendary singer (often cited as the best of all time), whereas his bandmates wanted a more toned down, PG-rated version of the frontman.

Seeing as the band has to approve of any script and director (rumored to be 'Les Miserables'' Tom Hooper), the odds were against Cohen getting his way.

The movie has been in the works since 2010, but no real progress has been made yet. The only sure things about the flick, should it ever be made, is that Borat won't be singing 'Bohemian Rhapsody.'
