Miley Cyrus is quite the trend-setter. After she ditched most of her hair, 'Girls' actress Lena Dunham followed suit, and now even Lady Gaga has gotten familiar with the sound of the clippers.

On Sept. 11, Mother Monster showed off half a bald head to her 29 million Twitter followers along with a tweet reading, "I did it for u Terry. I'm sorry about ure mommy. She has princess die, but were all princess high."

If you don't have your Gaga-to-English dictionary handy, 'Princess Die' is a reference to a song she's been performing on her Born This Way tour that many believe will probably appear on her next album, 'ARTPOP.' And the Terry she addresses is celebrity photographer Terry Richards, a close pal of Gaga's whose mother passed away on Tuesday.

But instead of sending flowers or a card, the singer shaved the back of her head in tribute (the rest was pulled into a high bun).

We're not entirely sure of the significance -- but if this becomes a trend of its own, expect to see a lot of shiny pates at funerals.
