Twerking monster Miley Cyrus, who can't seem to stop much of anything these days, defends herself in a new interview by saying people in their 20s are supposed to be a mess because that's the point.

It's cool, you guys. Real life apparently doesn't start until you're 30.

"I think people forget what it feels like to be 20," Miley told the Associated Press. "People just evolve and that's all that's happened to me."

"People think a mad scientist somehow cooked up this potion and turned me in to a different human, which it wasn't. All I did was get a haircut and buy some clothes and everyone thinks that I am made into a robot that changes with what's popular every 10 years."

(Which certainly doesn't explain why, after getting that Pink/Gwen Stefani/Rihanna haircut, Miley stopped wearing pants and started twerking, talking about big booty hos and chilling with strippers for fun. All of which coalesced in her latest non-symbolic music video.)

"I think some people kind of fall off and they end up going crazy because you don't give yourself time to go crazy," she continued. "That's what you're supposed to do; you are 20, you are supposed to be a mess because you haven't figured it out yet, and 10 years from now I am supposed to have it all together."

Thanks, Miley -- we'll check in on you in 2023 to see if you have your life in order yet. Maybe by then you'll even know what drag queens are.
