Mark Wahlberg was a bit of a problem teen and young adult -- there was the whole jail thing, the cocaine addiction thing, the hate crimes -- so he has some advice for another newly troubled star, Justin Bieber.

He also had some apologies to make, namely to David Beckham.

In terms of the Biebs, Wahlberg addressed rumors of the teen's pot smoking, bucket-peeing antics.

"Justin, are you listening? Don't be so naughty, yeah?" he told The Sun. "Be a nice boy, pull your trousers up, make your mom proud and stop smoking weed, you little bastard."

Wahlberg said all of this with love, though. He explained, "He's a teenager living in a different day and age. I was in prison before I got a record out and I don’t think he's been to prison. He's a nice enough kid and you're going to be a teenager," he added, "But if you’re being a teen in the spotlight you’re going to be criticized for it."

He advised the singer, with whom he may collaborate on a film and soundtrack, "This career can be short-lived — you might as well be the best you can while you're doing it."

As for Becks, who lives in the same gated community as the '2 Guns' actor, Wahlberg's offense was much more innocuous than anything he -- nor Bieber -- did in the past. In fact, it was sort of an accident.

"I had said something, half joking, because his house is at the bottom of our hill and a lot of people hang around the area," Wahlberg confessed. "So I said something like, 'I don't like him being here' because of that. But I met him and some of his sons and he seems like a nice guy. So I wanted to make sure he hadn't taken that personally."

We're glad Wahlberg is so contrite. Sure beats the one-sided "eye for an eye" methods of his youth.
