Remember how Chris Brown beat Rihanna beyond recognition back in 2009 before the Grammys? It's okay if you forgot -- apparently she and her dad did too.

In any case, Brown is like, totes sorry for that. Maybe.

UK tabloid The Mirror claims to have done an interview with Brown in which he expresses a whole lot of remorse for imitating Ike Turner, but we're a little dubious about the tab's claims of a sitdown with Chris. Here's why:

One, Brown is notoriously cantankerous when it comes to talking about the assault. (Remember when he threw a chair out of a 'Good Morning America' window?) Two, the quotes come off as a little more British than Breezy: "Sometimes you row, you fight, with the one you love and things get said, stuff spirals."

Dude. "Row"? Things like that -- and the fact that Brown usually only does higher-end press -- casts a lot of doubt that this interview ever happened.

However, if it did, Brown exhibits a maturity that we haven't seen before, saying, “That night was the deepest regret of my life, the biggest mistake. But she loves me -- what can I say? I’m forgiven … but, yes, I worked hard for it.”

At Elton John's 2013 Oscar party, Brown (who flew solo and got his flirt on) reportedly shrugged off a remark from Seth MacFarlane during the broadcast -- in his opening monologue, our favorite host ever said about 'Django Unchained,' "This movie is about a man trying to save his wife from unthinkable violence. Or as Chris Brown and Rihanna put it, a date movie."

“People attack me and criticize me, it happens all the time," Brown lamented.

"But they don’t know me, and they don’t know us. It doesn’t bother me anymore ... people can judge us but they don’t know anything."

Other than, you know, that one photo.
