Chris Brown did to his car the night before the 2013 Grammys what he did to Rihanna the night before the 2009 Grammys.

TMZ reports that Brown totaled his car this afternoon after a Justin Bieber-style paparazzi chase.

Brown was on his way to a charity event at the Debbie Allen Dance Academy when he was cut off by two vehicles.

His rep explained, “The occupants jumped out, with cameras, and aggressively approached his vehicle. In an effort to remove himself from the situation, he began to back down an alley at which point his was cut off by two additional vehicles.”

The police mostly concurred with Brown’s story.

“On Feb. 9, 2013 at approximately 12:03PM, entertainer Chris Brown was involved in a solo, non-injury traffic collision in the 600 Block Bedford Drive/Camden Drive alley. Mr. Brown was the driver of the vehicle and collided with a wall. Brown stated that he was being chased by paparazzi causing him to lose control of his vehicle. Brown’s Black Porsche was towed from the scene at his request.”

Despite TMZ’s original reports, though, the car may not, in fact, be totaled.

Beverly Hills P.D. Lt. Mike Foxen told Radar Online, “I don’t believe it was totaled. But I don’t work for an insurance company so I can’t say that.”
