10 Most Bizarre Celebrity Prenups

When a celebrity gets married, prenups are par for the course. Sometimes they spell out what happens in the event of a divorce, but they can dictate what happens during a marriage too — and everything in between. From anniversary payouts to repossessed body parts, marriage to a star can be lucrative or (quite literally) utterly deflating.

And as you’ll see below, no matter how iron-clad a prenup may seem, there are always extenuating circumstances that could render it totally moot.

Tiger Woods + Elin Nordegren

Their original 2004 prenup said the pretty Swede was entitled to $20 million if their marriage lasted 10 years. But after Woods became embroiled in one of the messiest cheating scandals in celebrity history just five years later, his pristine public image took a nosedive, costing him scores of lucrative endorsements. So to earn a little public goodwill — and guarantee Elin’s silence — he tossed the prenup and paid her an estimated $100 million in the divorce.

Keith Urban + Nicole Kidman

The Oscar-winning actress, who wed her country star husband in 2006, didn’t want a prenup, but her advisors insisted. The end result is that if the couple ever divorces, he’ll get about $640,000 for every year they were married. However, if Urban — who’s struggled with substance abuse in the past — uses illegal drugs, he won’t get a red cent.

Justin Timberlake + Jessica Biel

It took Justin several years to decide he wanted to marry Jess, and during that time, there were rumors he was unfaithful at least once. So she reportedly hedged her bets and included a “fidelity clause” in their prenup stating that if he cheats, she gets a $500,000 payout just for that.

Tom Cruise + Katie Holmes

The deal the pair struck in 2006 supposedly guaranteed that in the event of a divorce, Katie would get $3 million for every year they were married. That would’ve been capped at $33 million — but if things had lasted that long, California law would’ve kicked in and she’d have been entitled to half of Tom‘s earnings. Since they were only legally wed for five years, though, it didn’t matter. The details of their quickie divorce were never made public, but most experts say Katie likely did just fine.

Mark Zuckerberg + Priscilla Chan

When Chan married the Facebook mogul last year, she reportedly had a clause put into their prenup stating that one night a week, he has to totally unplug and spend quality (non-wired) time with her.

Charlie Sheen + Brooke Mueller

The former couple married in 2008 and, after a brief and rocky union, divorced three years later. Their incredibly detailed pre-nup granted Mueller oddities like $500,000 in cash on their wedding day and another $300,000 payable on their anniversary every year, plus the usual stuff like houses, cars and child support from Charlie.

Lamar Odom + Khloe Kardashian

Before their 2009 wedding, legal paperwork between the NBA baller and the youngest of the three most famous Kardashian sisters allegedly laid out in very plain terms what she’d get in the event of their divorce: $500,000 for every year they were married, their new house, a new luxury vehicle at the end of every lease cycle, and monthly amounts totaling $31,000 ($25,000 in spousal support, $5,000 for shopping, and $1,000 for beauty care).

Michael Douglas + Catherine Zeta-Jones

If Douglas and Zeta-Jones ever split, their prenup states the ‘Chicago’ actress gets $2.8 million for every year they were married (meaning she’s already earned almost $34 million since their nuptials in November of 2000). And if he cheats? Add another $5 million to the tab.

Larry Fortensky + Elizabeth Taylor

Fortensky, Taylor’s seventh (and last) husband, kind of pioneered the whole “pay to play” thing in modern celebrity prenups. His and Liz’s 1991 paperwork said as long as they stayed together five years, he’d get $1 million — even if they were still married at the time. They divorced in 1996 and he got his money, but they remained such good friends that she even left him another $800,000 in her will.

Ice T + Coco

Earlier this year, when Coco may or may not have been caught cheating with rapper AP.9, rumors flew that Ice was mulling a divorce. If that ever actually happens, his uber-curvy wife stands to lose a lot more than just a spotlight — because the couple’s prenup supposedly states that if they ever split, he retains possession of both her breast and butt implants.
