Andrew Rannells is Sassy and Sexy on ‘Girls’ – The Daily Swoon
The countdown to the season two premiere of ‘Girls‘ on HBO continues with Andrew Rannells, who plays Hannah’s snarky gay ex-boyfriend Elijah. And though he’s kind of a jerk sometimes, we can’t resist that smile.
Rannells plays Elijah, Hannah’s ex-boyfriend from college who came out of the closet right after they broke up — ouch, right? But as much as Elijah can be catty and snotty, he ultimately is a good friend to Hannah, and someone who continues to maintain a special place in her life. We’ll see more of their relationship develop in season two.
Rannells comes from a stage musical background, with his critically-acclaimed role in the Broadway musical ‘Book of Mormon,’ written by ‘South Park’ creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone. He also stars in the Fox TV series ‘The New Normal’ as one half of a gay couple with fellow sexy man Justin Bartha. That series was created by Ryan Murphy, the mastermind behind ‘Glee’ and ‘American Horror Story.’
