As anyone with access to the Internet or a checkout stand in the past year knows, Amanda Bynes has some serious issues. The problem is, they're not clinically serious enough -- that anyone can prove -- for her to get psychiatric help.

And sources say her issues have been brewing for quite a while, and her parents, Rick and Lynn, are pretty powerless to help.

"Amanda has been clearly using drugs, yes, including marijuana, but that is just the symptom," and insider told Radar Online. "The fact is Amanda suffers from severe mental health issues that she refuses to accept. Rick and Lynn want her to seek in-patient treatment at a psychiatric hospital so she can be properly treated.”

The insider revealed that Bynes had paranoia issues dating back to her days on Nickelodeon and 'What I Like About You.' "She even thought there were tracking devices in smoke detectors in her family home and would place sheets over them. Amanda also hears voices. It's so sad for her family to watch her unravel like this."

A conservatorship isn't likely, either, because Bynes, while clearly disturbed, isn't doing too much to harm others (save for hurling a bong -- or a vase -- out of a window), nor has she ever received a formal diagnosis -- because she refuses help.

The source explained, "They were advised that even as disturbing as Amanda’s behavior is, it's very unlikely that a judge would sign off on a temporary conservatorship."

The insider continued, "Conservatorships are very hard to get and being mentally ill and addicted to drugs isn't enough. Amanda hasn't ever been to rehab or ever agreed to see a mental health professional. Her parents are absolutely powerless to do anything at this point."

A big sign that Bynes has problem? She doesn't think she has a problem. The source says, "[Bynes] doesn't think she has anything wrong with her. She refuses to see a psychiatrist and says everyone is just out to get her."

Unfortunately, Bynes lumps those who are out to get her with those who are out to get her help.
