2013 Oscars – Christoph Waltz Wins Best Supporting Actor [VIDEO]

Christoph Waltz landed his second Oscar win for his role as Best Supporting Actor as German bounty hunter in the controversial Western ‘Django Unchained.’

Waltz’s first Oscar win was also for a Quentin Tarantino film for his role in ‘Inglourious Basterds.’

Waltz was a consummate professional when accepting his award, sending his respect to his fellow nominees Alan Arkin (‘Argo‘), Robert De Niro (‘Silver Linings Playbook‘), Tommy Lee Jones (‘Lincoln‘) and Philip Seymour Hoffman (‘The Master‘) and actually sounding like he meant it.

He also sent his “unlimited gratitude” to Quentin Tarantino and thanked his co-stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Samuel L. Jackson and Jamie Foxx.

Mostly though, he wanted to thank Tarantino (Waltz’s first Oscar win was in another of the director’s movies, ‘Inglourious Basterds’), telling the director he “participated in the heroes journey… You scaled the mountain because you’re not afraid of it. You slayed the dragon because you’re not afraid of it, and you crossed through fire because it’s worth it.”

Nicely said, sir.
